Time Machine lets you rewind today's solar dashboard
Today is built for right now: live power, the energy flow diagram, and (if you use finances) today’s running costs. That is great until you need ten minutes ago, or the export spike just before lunch.
Until Time Machine shipped, the workaround was History: open today’s chart, read off a number, flip back to Today, and hope you remembered it correctly. Same inverter, same day, two different screens.
What Time Machine is
Time Machine is a scrubber on Today that rewinds the dashboard through today’s 5-minute readings, from midnight through the current time. Drag the slider (or tap a shortcut) and the hero power readouts, flow diagram, and finances headline all reflect that timestamp instead of live data.
It is for quick questions you would otherwise answer by tab-hopping:
- When did export start this morning?
- Was the battery charging or discharging at 2 PM?
- How much had we generated by lunchtime?
Tap Live to snap back to the present and collapse the scrub bar.
The same 5-minute detail as your day charts
The scrubber uses today’s 5-minute detail from Fox ESS, the same series you get when you open a day in History. The slider snaps to those timestamps; there is no in-between view.
That payload refreshes on the same five-minute cadence as the rest of the app, so numbers on Today match the day chart when you dig in later.
Open the scrub bar and jump around
On mobile, open Today and tap Time Travel in the hero. On desktop, use the same outline control beside the period tabs. The bar runs from midnight to now.
Drag anywhere on the timeline. Shortcuts along the bar:
- Hour labels (12 AM, 6 AM, 9 AM, noon, and so on) jump to that part of the day
- The Peak badge marks the highest solar output recorded so far today
- VPP event markers appear when you have an upcoming or recent Axle export event
While you scrub, the flow diagram shows a timestamp badge instead of “just now”. If finances are enabled, the fold-in slices today’s costs to match the selected 5-minute point.

Time Machine is on the Today tab for every linked Fox ESS inverter. No setting to flip on.
- Sign in to Check My Solar with a linked Fox ESS inverter
- Open Today, tap Time Travel, then drag the scrubber or tap Peak
- Tap Live when you are done
FAQ
Does Time Machine work on past days?
Not yet. The scrubber only covers today, from midnight through the current moment.
How granular is the scrubber?
Five minutes. Each stop on the timeline is a real detail sample from Fox ESS, not a blended estimate.
Does scrubbing affect my inverter?
No. Time Machine is read-only. It replays stored telemetry on the dashboard.
Do I need finances enabled?
No. Power and the flow diagram update for everyone. The finances fold-in only changes if you already use that feature.
