September 2026 updates

Check My Solar

Since our Summer 2026 update in early July, we have been working on a handful of improvements we hope are useful. Forecasts now read more like a weather briefing than a single number. Day views include 5-minute detail as standard, with power and energy on the same screen. You can tune chart colours to match how you read your data. And if you run a Modbus Bridge or connect Axle, there are early betas for more advanced setups.

Here is what is new since that release.

Smarter forecasts

The Forecast section has had its biggest refresh yet. Alongside the headline kWh estimate you now get a weather summary for the day, a generation window showing when output is expected to peak, and visual cues for cloud cover, sunshine, and panel heat. The layout is easier to scan on mobile, with the date selector staying visible as you scroll through the week.

Two new explainers help decode the numbers. Tap the info button next to Confidence range to see why the band is wider or tighter on a given day.

Tap Heat loss to understand how hot sunny weather trims expected output and how that figure is already baked into the headline estimate.

We also launched a standalone public forecast generator where anyone can model solar output for one or more roofs without signing in, and share a link to the result. It is useful for planning a new install or explaining expected generation to someone who does not yet use the app.

Deeper energy insights

We merged the old split between detailed views and day-level history. Tap any day in History or open an energy entity from the dashboard and you land in a single, consistent view. 5-minute data is now standard on day views, so you no longer need to hunt through separate screens for the granularity you want.

Charts combine related metrics for simplicity. Battery state of charge and power share one screen. Grid import and export appear together. Solar generation sits alongside the metrics that matter for that day. On mobile, everything opens in a sheet that keeps you in context rather than pushing you to a separate tab.

The legacy Details tab is gone from mobile navigation because its job is now handled by the unified day view. Less switching, more context.

Stay connected

Daily report notifications can now use Smart Timing. Instead of arriving at a fixed hour, the app waits until your forecast window for the day has ended before sending the summary, so the numbers reflect what actually happened rather than a partial picture.

Weekly and monthly push notifications also include a finances line when you have flat-rate energy prices configured, giving you a quick sense of cost or savings without opening the app.

Set notification preferences, including Smart Timing and your preferred style (detailed or compact), from Notification Settings in the sidebar.

Power users

Two beta integrations are available for more advanced setups.

Modbus Bridge connects a home Docker bridge for live telemetry on the Today view, updating roughly every ten seconds instead of waiting on Fox Cloud polling. Setup walks you through a secure private tunnel with optional Fox Cloud fallback, and supports multiple inverter models. When the bridge is not read-only, you can also change work mode from the app and receive instant alerts when the inverter switches operating mode, which is noticeably faster than cloud-based polling.

Axle integration (beta) is for UK users on an Axle virtual power plant programme. Link your Axle API key from settings, see upcoming VPP events in a dedicated modal, view recent earnings on Today, and get alerts when an export event is scheduled. Both integrations carry a beta badge in the sidebar until we are confident they are ready for everyone.

Toggle Axle on in the Today preview below to see export earnings and upcoming event notices:

Better finances

Your financial summary now folds into the Today hero, just below work mode. A quick glance shows how the day is tracking without navigating to the full Finances tab. You can turn this on or off from Customise Experience if you prefer a cleaner Today view.

Toggle the folded summary from Customise Experience:

Open Finances for the full picture. Animated number transitions make period changes feel smoother. Week, month, and year tabs now work for flat-rate users as well as time-of-use tariffs, so everyone gets the same range of views regardless of how their energy prices are set up.

A faster, smoother dashboard

Across the app, loading spinners have given way to skeleton placeholders that match the layout of the content arriving. You see the shape of the page immediately, which makes the dashboard feel quicker even when data is still on its way.

The energy flow diagram now animates by default, with flowing indicators along each path so you can see direction at a glance. On mobile, the tab bar animates between sections. On desktop, a tab bar keeps your most-used views one click away without losing your place.

The forecast date selector sticks as you scroll on mobile, and a refreshed date picker makes jumping between days quicker. In Customise Experience, you can now pick accent colours for solar, load, grid, and battery metrics on charts and tiles, switch to monochrome styling if you prefer a calmer palette, and set a separate colour for CT2 (secondary inverter) data when you run a multi-inverter setup.

Preferences sync to your account so they follow you across devices.

Sending feedback from the sidebar now shows a brief success confirmation when your message goes through.

Try it

  1. Sign in to Check My Solar with a linked Fox ESS inverter
  2. Open the sidebar and explore Forecast, History, Finances, and Customise Experience
  3. On a more advanced setup, look for Modbus Bridge or Axle under settings
