# Dashboard overview

Check My Solar gives **Fox ESS owners** a single **dashboard** for live and historical data from Fox Cloud - solar generation, battery charge and discharge, grid import and export, and house consumption. After you sign in and link your inverter, it is the main screen for seeing how your system is performing right now and over any time range you choose.

---

## Layout

- **Top** - Time range selector (Today, Yesterday, Week, Month, Year, or a custom date) and date navigation (arrows or picker) where relevant.
- **Hamburger menu (top right)** - Opens the sidebar: Overview / Solar / House / Grid / Battery views, device switcher, Device Details, Notifications, Account, Feedback, and links (e.g. Changelog, Privacy).
- **Content** - Cards and charts for the selected time range and view.

On **mobile**, the menu is a slide-out panel. On **desktop**, the same options are available from the menu button.

---

## What you see by default

With **Overview** selected in the menu:

- **Live energy flow** - Right now: solar → house, battery, grid; grid → house; battery charge/discharge. Updates every few minutes.
- **Charts** - Generation, consumption, grid import/export, and (if you have a battery) state of charge over the selected period.
- **Summary cards** - Totals and key numbers (e.g. generation, consumption, self-consumption, export/import).
- **Financial insights** (if [energy rates](/docs/reference/energy-rates/) are set) - Cost of grid import, export credit, net cost, savings.

Tap or click a card or section to open more detail or a full-screen view where available.

---

## Switching time ranges

Use the tabs or dropdown for:

| View | What it shows |
|------|----------------|
| **Today** | From midnight to now (or live for the current day). |
| **Yesterday** | Full previous day. |
| **Week** | The week containing the selected date; you can move to previous/next week. |
| **Month** | The selected month; you can change month. |
| **Year** | The selected year; you can change year. |
| **Select Date** | A single day or custom range; pick the date(s) in the date picker. |

Charts and totals update for the chosen period. Financial data (when enabled) is shown for day/week/month/year where supported.

---

## Entity views (Solar, House, Grid, Battery)

From the menu you can switch from **Overview** to:

- **Solar** - PV generation, string-level data (if available), and solar-focused charts.
- **House** - House consumption and how it’s supplied (solar, battery, grid).
- **Grid** - Grid import/export, voltage, and grid-related metrics.
- **Battery** - State of charge, charge/discharge power, and battery-focused charts.

These views use the **same time range** you’ve selected; only the metrics and charts change. See [Solar, Battery, Grid & House views](/docs/using-the-app/entity-views/) for more detail.

---

## Multiple inverters

If you have more than one inverter (or Fox Cloud account) linked:

- Open the **menu** and use the **device/inverter list** at the top to switch the active device.
- The dashboard then shows data for the selected inverter. Notification and rate settings can be per device where applicable.

---

## Weekly view

In the **Week** view, a bar chart shows daily solar generation and home consumption side-by-side for each day of the week - useful for spotting patterns and comparing daily output at a glance. Use the arrows to move to previous or next weeks.

---

## Refreshing data

Data is loaded from Fox Cloud when you open the app or change device/date. **Live Energy Flow** loads first so you see your current solar status immediately; charts and totals follow shortly after.

If you have set up the optional [Modbus Bridge](/docs/using-the-app/modbus-bridge/) for an H1 G2 inverter, the **Today** view can refresh live numbers about every 10 seconds from your home network instead of waiting on Fox Cloud polling.

To refresh manually:

- **Pull down** on the dashboard (mobile), or
- Change the time range or date and back again

Stale data may be indicated by a “last updated” time or a short message; refreshing fetches the latest.
