# Leaderboard & share links

Check My Solar lets **Fox ESS owners** opt in to a community **leaderboard** and **share links** at [share.checkmy.solar](https://share.checkmy.solar) - compare your solar production with other users globally or in your country, and send a public stats page that friends or family can open without signing in.

Both features are **opt-in**. Nothing is published until you join from the leaderboard page.

---

## Opening the leaderboard

1. Sign in to [checkmy.solar](https://checkmy.solar) with a linked Fox ESS inverter.
2. Open **Leaderboard** from the sidebar (trophy icon) or the **Today** tab promo card.

You can browse rankings without joining. On your first visit, a join prompt appears over a blurred preview. Choose **Join now** to set up a profile, or **Browse without joining** to dismiss it.

---

## What you can see

The leaderboard shows public rankings from opted-in users. You can:

- Switch between **month** and **year** views and move between periods
- Filter by **country** or view **all countries**
- Sort by metrics grouped into **Production**, **Grid & load**, and **Battery**
- See a **community summary** with member count and collective generation, import, and export totals

When you have joined, your **personal card** appears at the top with your username, generation total, **global rank**, and **country rank**.

### Sortable metrics

| Group | Metrics |
|-------|---------|
| **Production** | Total generated (kWh), generation per kWp |
| **Grid & load** | House load, imported, exported, net grid |
| **Battery** | Charged, discharged, state of health, round-trip efficiency, cycles |

Rankings are based on **solar generated kWh** for the selected period.

---

## Joining the leaderboard

Open **Leaderboard Settings** from the leaderboard page (Settings button or join prompt) and complete your profile:

1. **Username** - 3–24 characters; letters, numbers, spaces, `_`, or `-`. Usernames are unique (case-insensitive).
2. **Country** - used for country rankings and filtering.
3. **Panel size (kWp)** - used for generation-per-kWp rankings. Check My Solar suggests a value from your system data; you can adjust it.
4. **Inverter** - stats are tied to the inverter selected on your dashboard when you join. To switch sites, leave the leaderboard and rejoin with the other inverter selected.

Tap **Join leaderboard** to publish your profile. You can **edit** your username, country, or panel size later from the same settings screen.

### Stats refresh timing

Leaderboard totals are aggregated from Fox Cloud data and refreshed automatically every few hours. After joining, your stats may take until the next refresh to appear. The app shows a message if your profile is set up but metrics are not yet available.

---

## Share links

Once you have joined, you get a personal link on **share.checkmy.solar** - an opaque URL that does not contain your username.

### Getting your link

- Open the **Share your stats** card on the leaderboard page, or
- Open **Leaderboard Settings** and copy the link from your profile.

You can **copy** the link or **open** it to preview how it looks to visitors.

### What visitors see

Anyone with the link can view your public profile without a Check My Solar account. The share page shows:

- Username and country
- **Global** and **country** rank for the selected period
- Month or year totals for production, grid & load, and battery (same aggregated stats as your leaderboard profile)
- Period navigation - visitors can switch between month and year views

Example: [share.checkmy.solar/v0vc5af8bbbj](https://share.checkmy.solar/v0vc5af8bbbj)

Share links work well in group chats, social posts, or anywhere you want to show how your system is performing over a month or year.

---

## What is shared - and what is not

When you join, only **aggregated** month and year totals are public. No raw interval data, live power readings, or identifying account details are shown.

### Shared when you join

| Category | Data |
|----------|------|
| **Profile** | Username, country |
| **Production** | Generated (kWh), gen / kWp |
| **Grid & load** | House load, imported, exported, net grid |
| **Battery** | Charged, discharged, battery SOH, round-trip, cycles |
| **Rankings** | Global and country rank for the selected period |

### Never shared

- Email, real name, or other account details
- Home address or location
- Inverter serial number or site name
- Live realtime power readings

Your share link uses a **random slug** - not your username - so the URL itself does not reveal who you are.

For broader privacy information, see [Privacy & data](/docs/reference/privacy/).

---

## Leaving the leaderboard

Open **Leaderboard Settings** and tap **Leave leaderboard**. Opting out:

- Removes your public profile from rankings
- Makes your share link stop working (visitors see a not-found page)
- Does not delete your Check My Solar account or inverter data

You can rejoin at any time from the leaderboard page. Your previous share slug may be reused if you rejoin with the same account.
