# Notifications

Check My Solar offers **Fox ESS owners** **push notifications** and **email reports** so you can stay on top of daily generation, weekly summaries, battery level alerts, operation mode changes, grid outages, and tomorrow’s solar forecast - without opening the app. Settings are **per device** (inverter). Open the **menu → Notifications** to configure them.

---

## Enabling notifications

1. Open the **menu** (top right) → **Notifications**.
2. If you have multiple inverters, ensure the correct **device** is selected (or set preferences per device where shown).
3. For **push**: grant notification permission when the app or browser asks. On iOS (PWA or native), allow notifications in system settings if prompted.
4. Turn **on** each report or alert you want (Daily Report, Weekly Report, Tomorrow’s Forecast, Daily Finance Summary, Operation Mode, Battery Level, Grid Outage, etc.).
5. Where **time** is available (e.g. daily report, tomorrow’s forecast, daily finance summary), set your preferred time and timezone.
6. For **email** reports, enable the corresponding “Email” option (e.g. Email Daily Report) and ensure the email on your account is correct in **Account** settings.

---

## Push vs email

- **Push** - Delivered to your device; some types are push-only (e.g. operation mode, battery alerts, tomorrow’s forecast).
- **Email** - Available for daily, weekly, and monthly reports; you can set different times for push and email (e.g. push at 8 PM, email at 9 PM).

---

## Tomorrow’s Solar Forecast

- Requires a **solar forecast** to be set up for the device ([Forecast](/docs/using-the-app/forecast/)).
- Once enabled, you get one push per day at your chosen time with tomorrow’s expected generation and peak times.

---

## Daily Finance Summary

- Requires **energy rates** to be configured for the device ([Finances](/docs/using-the-app/dashboard-overview/) tab → set import/export rates).
- Once enabled, you get one push per day at your chosen time with net cost or earnings, import/export amounts, and cost avoided.

---

## Battery level alerts

- Set a **threshold** (e.g. 20%). You’re notified when the battery **drops below** or **recovers above** that level. Checks run on an interval (e.g. every 15 minutes) for Fox Cloud users, or within about 10 seconds when you use the [Modbus Bridge](/docs/using-the-app/modbus-bridge/).

---

## Operation mode monitoring

- Sends a push when the inverter’s **work mode** changes (e.g. from Self Use to Feed-in). Useful to spot unexpected mode changes. With the [Modbus Bridge](/docs/using-the-app/modbus-bridge/), alerts can arrive within about 10 seconds.

---

## Grid outage alerts

- Sends a push when Fox Cloud reports the system has gone **off-grid** (grid power lost) and again when mains power is **restored**.
- Checks run on an interval (e.g. every 15 minutes) for Fox Cloud users, or within about 10 seconds when you use the [Modbus Bridge](/docs/using-the-app/modbus-bridge/).
- On the dashboard, off-grid status is shown in the energy flow view and device details when your inverter reports backup/EPS data.

---

## Subscription (iOS / in-app)

On some platforms (e.g. iOS), **push** notifications for reports and alerts may require a **subscription** (e.g. annual per device). The Notifications screen will show whether a subscription is needed and how to subscribe. Email reports may remain free; check the in-app text for current terms.
